Lisa Ekpo joined 13D in 2024 as a key member of the innovation research team, focusing on health, public health, and biotechnology.  Lisa comes to 13D with over 12 years experience in applied epidemiology and public health leadership at both federal and territorial levels.

Lisa has led initiatives in infectious disease prevention, healthcare-associated infection surveillance, public health emergency response, and multi-state epidemiological research. Lisa views public health not as an isolated discipline, but as strategic infrastructure that is essential to economic stability, national security, and public trust. 

At 13D, Lisa’s research approach is guided by her field experience, aiming to uncover new insights and transformative breakthroughs that are underappreciated by investors. She believes that translating complex health data into clear, practical guidance is important for guiding broader investment and policy decisions in a globally connected society.

Lisa’s love for learning and curiosity fuels her desire to better understand how science and innovation can intersect to improve lives. She is motivated to explore how data, behavior, and systems interact, and to connect knowledge across disciplines to effect meaningful change.

Lisa holds a Doctor of Public Health from the University of South Florida, a Master of Public Health from the University of Georgia and a Bachelor of Science in Neuroscience & Behavioral Biology from Emory University. In her spare time, Lisa enjoys being outdoors with her family.
