Investing in one of the greatest mismatches of supply and demand—food waste.

Among the many paradoxes of the modern food system, the most dismaying is the fact that more than a billion tons of food goes uneaten each year, while 1 billion people go undernourished and another 1 billion go hungry. Sadly, this number is projected to move in tandem with rising consumption levels. A recent report from the Boston Consulting Group estimates that by 2030, annual food loss and waste will soar to 2.1 billion tons.
