Lokaa Krishna recently joined 13D as part of the innovation research team, where she focuses on disruptive technologies at the intersection of global security, climate change, and political economies. With a strong analytical foundation and an interdisciplinary approach, Lokaa examines how emerging technologies reshape markets, governance structures, and long-term geopolitical dynamics.
Lokaa was drawn to 13D’s independent mindset, its willingness to challenge prevailing assumptions and look beyond conventional wisdom, especially in areas of uncertainty. She was particularly compelled by the way 13D pushes analytical boundaries and resists viewing industries in isolation.
Before joining 13D, Lokaa gained experience across venture capital, risk management, and macroeconomic research. Her work spans market sizing, regulatory analysis, risk assessment, and the evaluation of early-stage science and technology companies, providing her with a rigorous understanding of how innovation translates into real-world economic and security outcomes.
Alongside her professional work, Lokaa is deeply engaged in policy and development initiatives. She is the founder and leader of the World Village Project, a grassroots organization supporting sustainable infrastructure, health, and education initiatives in rural India, and has spoken internationally on human development and poverty alleviation, including at TEDx forums.
Lokaa holds a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science and History from Columbia University. Her senior thesis examined how shifting Western priorities converged to produce the 1953 coup in Iran, known as Operation Ajax.
Outside of research, she is passionate about discovering new cultures through travel, prioritizing health and wellness, and finding meaningful ways to bring art into daily life.
