China is rushing faster than ever to build its own semiconductor industry'which could shake the global tech sector.

In WILTW February 4, 2016, we recommended that clients redeploy profits from ChemChina's acquisition of Syngenta into China's next-potential acquisition target: semiconductors. In recent issues, we have highlighted how China's determination for technology independence in semiconductors is 'ground zero' for the trade war. China is 'the world's factory,' making up about 85% of smartphones, 82% of tablets, 66% of TVs, and 81% of PCs. However, China consumes 60% of the world's semiconductors, but only produces about 15%.
